Scott Kelby and Mike Olivella are holding a contest for amateur sport shooters called “Shoot on the Sidelines With Scott & Mike“. We can upload a single sports photo to the contest’s Flickr site and a winner will be chosen to join them on the sidelines of the Florida State vs. Jacksonville State college game in Talahassee, Florida on September 12th.
So I looked through my limited collection of sports photos to see if there was one that I thought might hold its own with the competition and I remembered this one, shot at a Philles game that I was taken to as a guest of my friends Lorraine and Marty in Philadelphia. The game was held on July 10th, 2008 and the Phillies beat the Cards 4 – 1
This is the end of St. Louis’ Chris Duncan’s unsuccessful attempt to break up a double play initiated by Jimmy Rollins of the Phillies. Rollins had gotten the throw off in plenty of time and caught the batter, Yadier Molina, at first.
This was taken with a 70-200 and a 2x extender at 400mm. It was shot at 1/500 @ f/10 ISO 320. I have uploaded this as my entry and we’ll see if I’ll be packing to travel to Talahassee…
